Bajaj Auto Ltd has reported a 20.48 per cent jump in standalone net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2011 to Rs 711.06 crore. The company had post a net profit of Rs 590.15 crore during the matching quarter last fiscal, Bajaj Auto Ltd (BAL) said in a statement.

Standalone net sales during the period under appraisal stood at Rs 4,586.91 crore against Rs 3,737.29 crore in the same era a year ago, an increase of 22.73 per cent. Motorcycle sales stood at 9,63,051 units against 8,28,391 units, up 16 per cent. Commercial vehicle sales stand at 1,29,764 units (99,918 units), up 30 per cent.

Total sales during the first quarter of this fiscal grew 18 per cent to 10,92,815 units from 9,28,336 units in the same era last fiscal, it added. The company scrip was trade down 2.31 per cent from its previous close on the BSE at Rs 1,415.60 during the noon session today.
