THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala has recorded 75.12 per cent voter turnout in the elections for the 140 member state Assembly.

According to the final figures of the Election Commission, Kozhikode district in north Kerala had the highest voter turnout of 81.3 per cent and Pathanamthitta in the south record the lowest polling percentage of 68.2 in the poll held yesterday.

Compare to other parts of the state, polling fraction in the capital district Thiruvananthapuram stood at a lower 68.3 per cent.

The polling percentages of other districts are: Kasargode (76.3), Kannur (80.7), Wayanad (73.8), Malappuram (74.6), Palakkad (75.6), Thrissur (74.9), Ernakulam (77.6), Idukki (71.6), Kottayam (73.8), Alappuzha (79.1) and Kollam (72.8)

The battle to gain power in the state was keenly fought between ruling LDF and Congress-led UDF with BJP making the contest three-cornered in at least two seats. In all, 971 candidates were in the fray, including independents.
