Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders halted the Rajasthan Royals to 81 runs in their Indian Premier League match at the Eden Gardens, the third lowest total in the tournament’s history.

L Balaji claimed three wickets from the match and struck the first blow as well, sending back an in-form Shane Watson on 11. With the Royals harassed on 24 for 1, the Knight Riders kept the pressure up as Gutam Gambhir rotated his bowlers to the maximum effect.

Iqbal Abdullah was bringing into the attack and he claimed the wicket of Amith Paunikar (15) and followed it up with a brilliant run out to get rid of Faiz Fazal (3).

The rest of the batting could also not stand the pressure as even the experienced campaigner in Ross Taylor managed to score only 6 runs before getting confused off the bowling of Yusuf Pathan.

Though Ashok Maneria top-scored for the Royals with his 21, it was not enough by any means as Shakib al Hasan wrap up the tail, picking two for his efforts.

Though the ball is turning somewhat at the Eden track, their total may just prove to be too little for even the likes of Shane Warne to salvage a close match.
